Dosing and Recommendations
We get asked this question a lot! Your healthcare practitioner would be the best person to speak with regarding your specific needs around vitamin D supplementation. The contents of this website are for informational purposes and are not intended to offer personal medical advice. You should seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read on this website.
It is always good to consider what other supplements you are already taking before adding additional supplements. Ddrops® products are uniquely suited to support daily vitamin D requirements only. Many multivitamins already contain vitamin D, but the dosages vary and labels should be looked at carefully. It’s always recommended you visit your healthcare practitioner for advice. The best advice about vitamin D recommendations will always come from your healthcare practitioner who is familiar with your health and the most current guidelines. Each Ddrops® box includes product-specific recommended dosing. Click here for the IOM and AAP's vitamin D recommendations for children in the US.
Dosing information for all Ddrops® products are specific to age groups and follow recommendations from local health authorities. These directions are located on each box of Ddrops®, on the insert included in each package and on the bottle label. You may have been recommended to administer a different dose by your healthcare practitioner, but always read and follow instructions carefully for each Ddrops® product.
Ddrops® Product Specific
There are other brands of concentrated vitamin D for infants that do not incorporate the same safety features we use for Ddrops®. This is why Ddrops brand products are often recommended by healthcare professionals and experienced parents. Ddrops® products are designed carefully to incorporate several important safety features, such as our EuroDdropper® technology, limited liquid fill, clear communication and GMP and NSF product and facility certification. To read more regarding these safety features, click here.
All of our Ddrops® products do not contain most common allergens and are free from corn, dairy, eggs, fish, gluten, lactose, peanuts, shellfish, wheat, yeast, preservatives, artificial coloring and/or flavors. The base for all of our liquid vitamin D supplements is fractionated coconut oil (which has been removed of the proteins and potential allergens). If you or any members of your family have an allergy, it is always best to speak to your physician to see if Ddrops® products are right for you. You can read more here.
You may notice that Ddrops product boxes all look different. This is because we offer different daily doses of vitamin D for different age groups. For instance, Baby Ddrops 400 IU is designed specifically for infants, containing the recommended daily dose in just one drop. To help differentiate our Ddrops products online and/or in stores, our boxes are different colours. These colours do not correspond to any specific flavour, as all of our products do not have a taste!
Ddrops® products range in price depending on the size, dosage and retailer. Pricing reflects core development including; product development, regulatory efforts, testing, validation and related manufacturing. Baby Ddrops® undergo additional rigorous testing well above and beyond what is required by regulations. Click here to learn more.
We do not recommend placing Ddrops® directly into the mouth for a few reasons. It can be difficult to control whether or not the drop has been consumed and the Ddrops® bottle may become contaminated. We always recommend administering Ddrops® onto a clean surface first to make sure the tiny drop is visible and easily ingested and that the bottle remains contamination free. We get asked this question quite frequently. The Ddrops® product you have purchased is perfectly normal. All Ddrops® products are filled to the specific number of dosages listed on the bottle. The bottles are not filled to the very top, so they will appear to be partially full. Standard bottle sizes of 10 mL and 15mL are filled with at least the exact dosages listed. The bottle size is significantly larger than the liquid fill volume. These larger bottle sizes are chosen for ease of use, safety and label readability. If your bottle is labeled to contain 90 drops, it will contain at least 90 drops. In actual fact, it will contain more doses than listed on the package. Also, keep in mind that each carefully measured drop is only 0.03ml, not 1 mL as many other liquid vitamins. So for instance, 90 doses of Baby Ddrops® 400 IU is actually only 2.5 mL of liquid, and this is contained in a 10 mL bottle. Consequently this bottle of Ddrops® 400 IU appears to be only 1/4 full- this is done by design. Always check that the safety seal neckband is intact when you first open the box. Parents are pleased to learn that in addition to high-grade vitamin D, Ddrops® contains only fractionated coconut oil and vitamin D - and that's it! Our fractionated coconut oil contains no chemicals, additives or preservatives. All Ddrops® products are free of peanuts, wheat, gluten, soy, eggs and dairy. Ddrops® are free from most common allergens and can be enjoyed by the entire family. Click here to learn more.
Vitamin D3 starts as lanolin (the oil obtained from sheep and lamb wool). The lanolin is exposed to ultraviolet light to activate the cholesterol that then turns into vitamin D3. This gets purified and used for vitamin D supplements. Although Ddrops® brand vitamin D3 is an animal sourced product, the animal is not harmed during this process. This means that Ddrops® products are suitable for lacto-ovo vegetarians. Vegan Ddrops® contain vitamin D2 which is not an animal source. Click here to learn more.

Simply turn the bottle upside down to dispense just one drop. Ddrops® products are designed to be dropped onto a clean surface, food item, or in a liquid rather than dropped directly into the mouth. Once the drop is dispensed, return the bottle to an upright position and store the bottle between 40 °F and 85 °F. Click here to lean more.
Be patient, as the Euro Ddropper® works with gravity to dispense the exact dose in each drop. Sometimes this takes a few seconds. If air becomes trapped in the Euro Ddropper® mechanism, it can help to hold the bottle on a slight angle or put the cap on and gently turn it upside down and right again a few times before use. Do not shake the bottle. Do not remove the Euro Ddropper® dispenser and use any other utensil, such as an eyedropper. As your bottle of Ddrops® is used over time, the drops may begin to come out more slowly. This likely means that it is time for a new bottle. Still having trouble? Click here for more tips.
We always recommend administering the drops onto a clean surface first to avoid any over consumption. Vitamin D has an accepted safety range, and our Ddrops® products contain only pure vitamin D and fractionated coconut oil. If you are concerned, we recommend you contact your healthcare practitioner.
To ensure the tiny drop is visible and actually ingested, we always recommend administering Ddrops® onto a clean surface first. Ddrops® liquid vitamin D is very unique. Ddrops® is a patented product, and the built-in Euro Ddropper™ allows just one drop to be dispensed at a time. The drop size is very consistent, making the dose accurate each and every time. Since Ddrops® products consist of just pure vitamin D and fractionated coconut oil they are not harmful – essentially it would be as if your child accidentally got some oil in their eye. Rinsing gently with water is the best solution as anything else may cause irritation of the eyes. If your still concerned, contact your healthcare practitioner. We always recommend administering Ddrops® onto a clean surface first such as mom’s nipple or a clean fingertip to make sure the tiny drop is both visible and easily ingested.
Your product is fine! Ddrops® are tested across a wide range of temperatures including those below freezing. Like most liquids, it may thicken, solidify or become cloudy once frozen. Allow the bottle to return to room temperature before using.
